Your first mission? Find your Unit and get to know everyone you’ll be adventuring with.

Once everyone arrives play the BINGO game as an icebreaker and to get to know everyone’s quirks, talents, and hidden skills. 

Timelines for the Day

ARRIVAL:

9:00 am – 12:15 pm

  • Check in at the Registration Desk.

  • Collect your event lanyard with ID card and welcome pack.

  • If you purchased Merch make sure you have collected that from the Merch table also.
  • Meet your Unit Leader and find your Unit gathering spot.

Get stuck into Unit bonding activities, join the Host Team in some fun, and smash out your Bingo Game.

Host Team Challenges

While you’re waiting to depart and getting set for the adventure ahead, the Host Team will be rolling out a series of pop-up challenges designed to fire up the hype.

 

Expect quick-hit activities, friendly competition, and plenty of chances to get involved, meet new people, and show off your unit spirit.

 

Jump in, earn bragging rights, and kick off Venture with momentum before the real journey begins.

🏳️ DESIGN YOUR UNIT FLAG 🏳️

The Host Team has a creative challenge for you during AdVenture — every Unit will design their own Unit Flag to represent who you are and mark your campsite during Phase 2.

 

This is about teamwork, creativity, and unit pride.

 

🎨 The Challenge

Using the materials provided, each Unit will design and draw one Unit Flag that reflects:

 

  • Your Unit identity

  • Your shared AdVenture experience
  • What Scouts means to you as a team

Each Unit will be supplied with:

  • One A3 sheet of paper
  • Drawing materials (pens, markers, etc.
Flag Guidelines

To keep things appropriate and fun for everyone:

 

Your flag should:
  • Include your Unit number

  • Reflect your Unit’s personality, values, or journey

  • Be creative, colourful, and easy to recognise

  • Be suitable for public display at your campsite

🚫 Your flag must not include:
  • Offensive, political, sexual, or discriminatory content

  • Swear words or inappropriate imagery

  • Anything targeting or mocking other Units

  • Personal or identifying information about individuals

🏕️ Use at Camp
  • Flags will be displayed at your campsite during Phase 2

  • Flags may appear in photos and official AdVenture media

Food & Drinks

Hungry? We’ve got you.

  • Food is available for sale from the Tākina Events Centre Catering team, in the foyer on Level 2.

  • A limited amount of gluten free and vegan options will be available on request on the day or
  • If you have dietary needs not catered for by the Catering Team you can ask to head downstairs to the Zepher Cafe on the ground floor
  • Water refill stations are located around the site – keep your drink bottle handy and stay hydrated.

Food can be ordered from  THE FOOD STATION located in the Foyer on level 2 from 11am to 1:30pm

 

You can pay for your food with cash, or eftpos. 

 

Once you have ordered your food and been given a number, hang around near the station so you can hear when your number is called to collect your food.

Departures are indicative only and may change. 

Your Expedition and Unit Leaders will keep you up to date

Departures for expeditions are planned with specific time frames in mind; however, these are goals and not set in stone.

Participants will be kept up to date by their Expedition Leader, Unit Leaders, and via BAND if any changes are made.

 

Departure points include:

 

  • THE BUS LANE on Cable Street outside of Te Papa (marked in blue on the map). To access the Bus Lane, use the pedestrian crossing located to the left of Tākina when exiting onto Cable Street.

  • THE SERVICE LANE beside Tākina (marked in yellow on the map). This can be accessed by walking along Cable Street to the right when exiting onto Cable Street.

  • THE CARE PARK (marked in lime green on the map). This can be accessed by using the pedestrian crossing to the right when exiting Tākina via the Wakefield exit.

Important Info

Toilets – Youth

  • You’ll find toilets just off the Foyer on Level 2, near the lifts and escalators. – ask your Unit Leader if you’re unsure.

Toilets – Adults

  • You’ll find the leaders toilets at the far end of the Foyer on Level 2.

Quiet Space:

  • Feeling a bit overwhelmed? We have a quiet space if you need a minute to reset. Ask your Unit Leader to point it out to you.  

Lost or Need Help?

  • Find an Adventure Guide in a high-vis vest or ask your Unit Leader for help.

  • For urgent support, call 0800 SCOUTS (0800 726 887).

Safety:

  • Keep your Lanyard with ID card on at all times.

  • Stay with your Unit unless you’ve arranged otherwise with your Unit Leader.

Lost Property:

  • Have you lost some gear? Lodge it here with our Lost Property Form and if we find it we will try our best to reunite you with it before you depart.

Need a Charge? We’ve Got You Covered!

Please don’t plug your phone in just anywhere — for your convenience and safety, we’ve set up two dedicated charging stations on Level 2.

 

One is located in the main foyer near our Quiet Space, and the other is at the front of the main Unit Meet-Up Space. With plenty of outlets available, you can power up your device quickly and get back to what matters most.

 

We’ll have you powered up and ready to go in no time!
